“HigherUp is a nonprofit partner organization that provides resources to prepare the next generation of professionals through college and career pathways. We provide technical training, college readiness support, and leadership development to young adults to prepare them for post-secondary success.”

Studies show that 40% of college eligible students do not make it to class on day one. The following HigherUp events and programs help support our students as they prepare and transition to college:

College Fair and College Tours

Students participate in the annual HBCU College Fair, Lemoyne Owen Preview Day and the Memphis National College Fair. Students, families and educators who attend the fair have the opportunity to speak directly with college admission representatives from each of the schools that participate and our students often receive onsite college admissions.

Family FAFSA Night

We support families every step of the way. Our Family FASFA nights are times set aside for parents to come to the school to receive step by step support in completing their FASFA application. Our program goal is 100% FASFA completion by January.

College Readiness Workshops/Summer Bridge Program

HigherUp provides programming and support in the summer to help transition graduating seniors to college. This programming includes weekly workshops to help students through the application and admittance process. We work with college advisors to ensure that students meet financial aid, scholarship and school requirement deadlines.

Extracurricular Fair

We partner with organizations like BRIDGES, City of Memphis Office of Youth Services, Boys Scouts of America, Girls Inc. and Teach For America to provide opportunities for year round extracurricular activities. These activities include summer internships, leadership development and mentoring.
